A Guide Different Types of Showers

Thinking of investing in a new shower? We’re providing you with a guide today on the different types of showers available and which one might be right for you. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the choice, but if you spend a little time going over each one, you’ll soon find something that’s suitable for your family and your home.

Showers fall into different categories, and they are:

  • Electric

  • Power

  • Digital

  • Mixer

Before you decide on the right ones, consider how your bathroom is set up. What type of boiler do you have and how big is it, the water pressure - is it high or low?

Electric Showers

these are great if you want hot instant water, which is especially good if you have young children. You’ll need good water pressure but it won’t need any hot water from the boiler to work and they’re easy to install. Electric showers work really well with combi boilers.

Power Showers

If you have low water pressure these types of showers are ideal. They’re also as the word suggests very powerful so your showers will certainly be energising. You’ll need both a cold and hot water supply, and they work with all types of water pressure, but tend to use more water than mixer and electric showers. Power showers are perfect for homes with a weaker type of water pressure.

Digital Showers

These types of showers will give you the latest technology so you can have better control of your temperature. They work a bit like a mixer shower with hot water taken from the boiler, they can also be compatible with a smart device, depending on the make. They come with a control panel so you can control the temperature with the press of a button. This gives you some accuracy when it comes to controlling the flow of water and the temperature.

Mixer Showers

A mixer shower will need a hot water source and mixes both hot and cold water, giving you the ideal shower at the right temperature, hence its name. It will need a strong flow of water, stronger than that of electric ones and you’ll need a generous hot water supply. Mixer showers don’t rely entirely on electricity to work, which is great news should there be a power cut.
