Underfloor Heating For Bathrooms

Thinking of investing in underfloor heating? We hope you are because you’re in for a treat with this novel form of heating in your home. It’s a worthwhile investment for many reasons, some of which we’ll go over in this post.

Underfloor heating is becoming increasingly popular.

Underfloor heating is often fitted in new homes so anyone moving into a new build will already be benefiting from this form of heating. It’s also extremely popular in some parts of Europe as well. Although it’s often associated with luxury and expense, underfloor heating systems are  certainly growing in popularity due to the easy way they heat up a room, and provide a trouble free source of comfort.

It’s the easiest way to get warmth and comfort and this makes it worth the investment.

Just imagine waking up and placing your bare feet on a warm floor, or how about getting out of a bathroom, out of a wet shower and onto a warm floor? These are some of the things you can come to expect if you invest in underfloor heating. In today’s post our focus will be on bathrooms, and this is one of the most popular rooms to have underfloor heating in.

Hot water systems work well in bathrooms.

Here water is pumped through underfloor heating pipes that are built within subfloors away from the main central heating system, or sometimes via solar energy. This is popular with newly built houses because they can be built around the rest of the construction.

Dry systems.

Unique mats or wiring, spread out underneath the floor are placed and connected together. These work by thermostat with the rest of the power supply throughout the house. This is one of the easiest forms of underfloor heating to install so it’s usually the best option if you live in an older house. They are cheaper to install than water systems, but can be less efficient.

No more radiators.

They can certainly save you space because rather than have a radiator on the wall either vertically or horizontally, you’ll have extra space which can be used for shelving or furniture.

Invisible heating system with more space guaranteed.

This source of heating is invisible so there’s no cumbersome radiators in the way. In a bathroom for instance you could use the space to install more storage space if you’re running out of room and your towel rail could occupy the wall within the shower/bath area.

Energy efficiency.

You’ll only need low temperatures to heat up a room and this will work out cheaper and more cost effective. This will save you money in the future despite the initial cost of installing it.

Low maintenance.

Underfloor heating is relatively easy to maintain and rarely leaks because the pressure testing is done before the flooring is put down. It won’t be anywhere near as much hard work as having gas central heating, with an engineer required more often to carry out annual boiler assessments in case of gas leaks and fires.

You’re also less likely to have burns and scalds, and there’s less airborne dust with underfloor heating as opposed to other types of heating systems.
